Who are you?
Hello, I'm Eloise f Lagar. I'm 27 and I'm from London. I'm a social media content creator, and I've been doing it for about seven years now. One of my favourite things to do is me and my boyfriend go travelling a lot, so we try and explore as much of the world as possible. I'd say that's one of my passions for sure.
When did you first notice something was “different” about your body?
So when I was in high school, I started what everyone around me started noticing that my hand was shaking quite a lot. It got worse when I was doing my A Levels. I think because obviously it's a high pressure time, you're under a lot of stress and being that young, a lot of hormones. And I was also going through quite a difficult time in my life back then. So my hand was just shaking worse than it usually had been. So a lot of my friends, my family and my teachers pointed it out specifically my mom, because I think she started having a clue that I could be a essential tremor because it runs in my family. So my mom wanted me diagnosed specifically before I started my A Levels, because even writing was proving quite difficult at that time and obviously A levels I was trying to get into uni, that was really important time for me. So yeah, we decided to get diagnosis, but because I'm also a scaredy cat of things like that, they had to actually get my school involved. And my drama teacher actually ended up taking me to the doctors because I refused to go with anybody else because of how scared I was. They had to take blood tests on me to obviously rule out any other condition. And then once all my bloods came back cleared, I ended up visiting a neurologist. And as soon as I went in there, I went with my mom. It was kind of apparent they ran a few tests on me, but because of my background and my family, both sides of my family having a central tremor, the diagnosis was pretty clear and that's when I got diagnosed with a essential tremor.
What is Essential Tremor and how did you get diagnosed?
An essential tremor is a neurological condition where basically you shake, I have it in my hand, but you can have it in your head, your arms, your legs, but the most commonplace is your hand. And I got diagnosed through my gp, so I had to have blood tests to rule out anything else. And then I went to a neurologist, which they also ran tests. You can also sometimes go for a head scan to also see if they're not a hundred percent sure it is that mine was very apparent that it was that because of my background, my family. So yeah, they didn't have to do that on me.
